Ushuaia, Argentina?

Well this morning we arrived in Argentina with only Chilean money thinking we were still in Chile. Oh well there will be Argentinean tour guides that are tipped in Chilean Pesos instead of Argentinean pesos. Great planning on my part

Ushuaia sits on the very tip of Tierra del Fuego   It is literally the southern most city on the South American continent and its claim to fame is “The end of the World”. The city got its start as a penal colony and the prisoners main job was to cut down the forests the lumber could be milled and used throughout Argentina. The prisoners were brought in to boost the population and grow the city to help Argentina stake a claim to the Tierra del Fuego region.

The area has a very mild climate with little fluctuations in temperature from summer to winter although in winter the area is windy. The area is the largest community in the southern Argentina area boasting over 60000 people. The port was extremely busy when our ship arrived. There were 6 cruise ships from 6 different companies. It is the gateway to those going on to Antarctica

I am going to close since I am tired and we have another 5 days at sea so I should have time to blog if the internet stays available.
