Incommunicado

We have been floating for 5 days around Antarctica. No internet at all or at least the Google Blogger wouldn’t open. I did do a long post that was lost because of not saving (internet problem, not me). This time I screen shot the post so will update it after this post

We are on day 16 and Dan is starting to get antsy. We were able to anchor in the Falkland Islands but there was absolutely no cell service although shops had WiFi to process credit card transactions (amazing).  Residents would have to purchase a card and then find a “hotspot”   I did turn on my phone to see the no service icon.  The islands are small but there is a hospital specialists come in for a week at a time only during summer months. There are all amenities you want including post office, bank, grocery and hair dresser but housing is minimal so there are not an influx of new residents. The weather today is “typical”, cloudy, windy and drizzly although several days ago it was sunny.  The town of Stanley serves all the other small islands and is a location for all services so outlying island residents must ferry over and all children attend school here like a boarding school from about age 9 to 16  then if grades are passing the child is sent to England to complete high school or start a trade school education.

There is the Norwegian cruise ship in port with us today so tourists all over   We did a walking tour although many on the ship went to the other side of the island to see penguins   We will do penguins at the next port on a tour

I will attempt to reinput the lost post since we continue to have internet
